Matariki and the Infinite Blue

Matariki is the Māori name for the Pleiades star cluster, whose annual predawn rise over the Pacific horizon signals the beginning of the Māori New Year — a time of remembrance, celebration, and renewal. Blue is the color of Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa — the great Pacific Ocean — and the vast night sky through which Matariki travels.
